EN “Pédale”, “Mariposa”, “Faggot” ... Words that are spoken, written and thrown with more or less violence. Words that are not simply insults, but that also lead to the creation of a filigree of serious assaults to the freedom of gender difference and the sexual orientation of each individual.
But what do these words really mean? And what sense will they have once they’re translated into another language? And what if iconographic symbols are created from this absurd dialectic?
These are the questions from which HOMOFOGRAFIA originates as a graphic-linguistic exercise in the form of a fictitious newspaper, in which offensive and discriminatory words against homosexuals ironically turn into heraldic allegories.
FR “Pédale”, “Mariposa”, “Faggot” ... ces mots dits, écrits et lancés avec plus ou moins de violence, ne se limitent pas à une simple insulte, mais ils entraînent également la création d’un filigrane de préjudices graves envers la liberté de genre et l’orientation sexuelle de chacun.
Mais que signifient vraiment ces mots? Et quel sens ont-ils une fois traduits dans une autre langue? Et si une iconographie était créée à partir de cette dialectique absurde?
Telles sont les questions que pose HOMOFOGRAFIA, un exercice graphique et linguistique, sous forme d’un journal fictif où les mots offensants et discriminatoires envers les homosexuels se transforment ironiquement en allégories héraldiques.
NL “Pédale”, “Mariposa”, “Faggot”… Woorden die al dan niet met geweld worden uitgesproken, neergeschreven of naar iemands hoofd geslingerd. Woorden die zich niet beperken tot de orde van de belediging, maar die aanleiding zijn tot een web van vooroordelen dat de vrijheid tot gender difference en de seksuele oriëntatie van elk van ons aantast.
Maar wat betekenen deze woorden juist? En welke betekenis hebben ze als ze vertaald worden? En wat als men een iconografie zou bedenken van deze absurde dialectiek?
Vanuit deze vragen ontstaat HOMOFOGRAFIA als een grafisch-linguïstische oefening, in de vorm van een fictieve krant, waarin beledigende en discriminerende woorden tegenover homoseksuelen op ironische wijze getransformeerd worden tot heraldische allegorieën.
